Pick Walk For Maya

Hi there,

At this moment I am talking about how selections are made and how to be made. There are lots of ways to select the selections like character GUI, setting up trigger interface to camera (Ref : Tiny rig) etc etc..

There is one more method to do this called "Pick Walk" it navigates to other object based up on current selection. Means, next selection is based upon current selection. (you can watch the video right after this post)

I wrote a small script for selecting object(s) or controllers by pick walk, just how we do for selecting hierarchy by pressing Up arrow key, same way it works.

It is bit tricky to understand and setup it first time, but once you understand how it works and how to walk with it, it makes life lot easier specially for animators.

Here is a video demonstrating  how to work with pickWalk and how pickWalk works.

cheers !

Awsome Spine Rig

Hey,

As we all know there are couple of techniques for building advance twisting torso . One is by Jason Schleifer which became a very standard and well known technique in the industry and second is Arron Holly's Ribbon Spline.

As we know there is always an issue when we rotates spine about 180 degree, which can be avoided by using, yes you are right  thats "Ribbon". Very handy and great technique.

Recently I saw a tutorial written by Mat Berglund about creating no flip spine with the help of ik handles, pretty straight forward and time saving. It is a blend of quite a bit of ribbon and number of IK handles. Very useful technique.

Rad the tutorial.
